A
Rosary
A
Rosary consists of a collection of beads, and is used either for wearing in the
neck (Mala), or counting while chanting/reciting Mantras (Jap Mala). The
number of beads could be 27, 54 or 108, with one extra bead at the
knot, called 'Meru' bead.
The
Rosary can either have the same kinds of beads, or a mixture of beads
which are complimentary to each other - These beads could be either
Rudraksha, Basil or 'Tulsi', Coral, Rock crystal or 'Sphatik'
beads.
How
to maintain the sanctity of your Rosary
1. The 'Meru'
bead should not be counted while reciting Mantras.
2.
The 'Neck
Mala'
should be removed before sleeping, and kept under the pillow.
3.
The 'Jap Mala' should preferably be put at a clean place in the 'Puja'
room, or place of worship.
4.
The beads of the Rosary should be purified and sanctified with
appropriate 'Beej Mantras'.
